The WWE Universe got its first taste of the upcoming Global Cruiserweight Series today when WWE COO Triple H revealed the tournament’s first few participants during a conference call.
NXT competitors Rich Swann, Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano along with international standouts Zack Sabre Jr., Noam Dar, Ho Ho Lun and Akira Tozawa were announced for the Global Cruiserweight Series, which begins with qualifying matches in the coming weeks, then airs on WWE Network starting July 13.
“It’s a very diverse group,” Triple H said. “We’re scouring the globe and looking for the absolute best talent to be involved with this.”Earlier this week, it was announced that independent organizations EVOLVE Wrestling, Revolution Pro Wrestling and PROGRESS Wrestling will host qualifying matches for the series.
